About Me

Hey there – I’m Jess. Welcome to Bliss This Mess, my little corner of the internet where I write about motherhood, homeschooling, the occassional DIY craft (when I remember I own a cricut or glue gun), and the messiness of everyday life.

I started this blog years ago when I was a full-time stay-at-home mom, just trying to make it through nap time with a little sanity and a lot of coffee. These days, I’m still a stay-at-home mom – but now I also work full-time from home as a writer and editor. I spend my weekdays homeschooling six kids (yes, six), answering 4,000 snack requests, and somehow managing a career writing about…trees. (Which is actually cooler than it sounds.)

Needless to say, free time is rare. But writing has always been my favorite way to process life, connect with others, and reclaim a little piece of myself in the chaos. It lets me say all the things I feel without having to awkwardly stumble through them out loud – which is exactly why I’m a writer and not a public speaker.

The Bliss This Mess Crew

I live in beautiful Tennessee with my husband and our six incredible kids – ages 11, 9, 7, 6, 4, and 2. Our days are loud, sticky, and full of love. My husband, Aaron, works hard to keep this family running smoothly behind the scenes while I try to teach math, write blog posts, make dinner, and occassionally remember where I left my coffee.

Why This Blog Exists

People often ask, “How do you do it all?” And the truth is: I don’t. The laundry is never caught up, the floors are usually muddy or sticky, and we’re almost always running out the door five minutes late for something – because getting six kids anywhere on time should honestly be an Olympic sport.

But even in the middle of the mess, this life is mine – and it’s beautiful in all its imperfection.

That’s what Bliss This Mess is all about: finding joy in the chaos, humor in the hard days, and connection through the real, unfiltered moments of motherhood.

This space is my creative outlet. I spend my days writing about tree care, but this blog is where I get to write from the heart. No algorithms, no strategies – just real-life stories, thoughts, and the occassional craft that didn’t totally flop.

Have Questions? Let’s Connect!

I don’t update socials much these days, but feel free to say hello or reach out if something I’ve written resonates with you. You can always email me at [email protected].

Thanks for stopping by my mess. I’m glad you’re here.
