Roast a Marshmallow and Party S’more

For my family and I, s’mores means the official start of summer. The combination of a gooey marshmallow, some melty chocolate, and a crunchy graham cracker really completes the perfect night with a toasty campfire under the stars.

Last summer, Colorado, and many other states, experienced a horrific wildfire season. Out of an abundance of caution (and eventually a statewide fire ban), we didn’t have any campfires. Which also meant we didn’t enjoy a single s’more!

I decided to take action this year and not let Colorado’s drought rain on my parade (although I wish it would rain, literally.) I created the perfect indoor s’more station that can be used and enjoyed all year long! Now, our only problem is keeping the marshmallows stocked at home.

How to make your own S’more Station

This is a super easy and fun project using very little supplies. I started off with a white condiment caddy from Target but they only sell them during the summer. You can find a similar condiment caddy on Amazon.

For the fire pit, I used a six inch terra cotta pot from Home Depot. Using matte white spray paint, coat the terra cotta pot at least twice. When the white paint is dry, use matte finishing spray. Then, allow twenty four hours for your paint to dry before moving on to the next step.

Using Cricut Design space, I created the “Making S’more Memories” and “Let’s get Toasted” label. I used black permanent vinyl.

This S’more Station doesn’t have to be made using a Cricut. You could use paint, paint markers, or permanent markers. My free hand is just not worth bragging about or photographing.

You’re now almost done! To make the terra cotta pot resemble a small fire pit, I filled the pot about two-thirds of the way full with crumpled up aluminum foil. This gives the sterno can something flat to sit on but also keeps your pot from being too heavy. The sterno can should sit level with the top of the terra cotta pot.

Then, add your stones around the sterno can until it looks full. But not so full that the stones are falling out or on piling on top of the can. I found the black, polished stones at Dollar Tree with the floral supplies. Although, acrylic gems would be pretty too depending on the look you’re wanting.

The final step, which isn’t necessary, is adding twine around the top. I used hot glue to secure the twine on the back and continued wrapping it around until it looked complete.

The S’more the Merrier

To complete your new S’more Station, be sure to include your marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars. Don’t forget something to toast your marshmallows with like these fondue forks.

If you’re looking for non-traditional, yet super yummy s’mores alternatives, try replacing the chocolate bar with a thin Reese’s peanut butter cup or substituting the graham crackers for a chocolate chip cookie! Use some of these suggestions when planning your next S’mores Bar!

This S’more Station is the perfect addition to your summer! Let me know in the comments where you’re enjoying your S’mores Station from!
